Changelog
What has changed in Hotline UGC, newest first.
Changes that affect what you see and do in the product. Dates are when the change reached production.
The Hub is now called Content
The nav entry both roles used to see as Hub reads Content, and opens on Creatives. The tabs inside it are unchanged.
Creators see what their videos cost to run
Spend now appears on a creator's Performance chart, in their earnings history and on their video cards, so every surface agrees. What stays brand side is anyone else's: other creators' deals and figures, and the workspace's own account wide numbers.
Earnings separates paid from owed
Four tiles, Available to Cash Out, Owed to You, Total Paid and Lifetime Earned, and a Paid and owed section underneath that puts each amount at its stage: on hold, waiting for the pay run, in a pay run, clearing, ready, cashed out. The brand's next pay run date sits beside the money waiting for one.
A video can have its own terms
Terms now resolve from the video, then the creator, then the workspace, so one creative can be put on its own rate without editing anybody's deal.
Terms lock when a video goes live
Approval still freezes a video's terms. Going live as an ad in Meta now locks them for good: re-approving keeps the rate and pays no second submission fee, un-approving no longer clears them, and the Terms panel turns read-only and says why.
This is a money rule as much as a promise. The nightly accrual prices every ad day with no figure yet, however old, so switching a live video's model would pay its whole backlog at once.
Uploading starts with one question
The uploader asks whether you were briefed on the creative. Yes leads to the brief it answers, no goes straight to the file.
Private Slack channels on Growth and Agency
Both tiers include a private channel with the Hotline team, and your workspace's uploads, creator messages and pay runs are posted there. Slack emails the invite to the billing owner.
The API describes itself
GET /api/v1/openapi.json serves the spec, publicly and without a credential. It is generated from the running code rather than kept as a file beside it, so it cannot drift from what is deployed.
One endpoint now writes
POST /analysis-jobs queues an analysis on a video you already own and returns a job to poll. It is idempotent twice over: the same video is never analysed twice inside 24 hours, and an Idempotency-Key header makes a retry return the same response rather than merely the same outcome.
Everything else stays read only.
Creators can claim a brief
A creator can take a brief, or a brand can put a named creator on one. Claims are capped at the brief's target count, so a brief asking for five videos cannot hand out six.
Giving a brief back marks the claim released rather than deleting it, because a creator dropping a brief days before the deadline is worth knowing.
A creator's Briefs tab is now in two parts, the briefs they hold and the ones still going spare.
Briefs carry attachments
Documents can be linked from a brief, so the reference material sits with the ask.
A read-only API, on Growth and Agency
Nine endpoints under app.hotlineugc.com/api/v1 covering creatives, performance, your roster, royalties and brand context. Keys are created in Settings, then Integrations, and shown once.
A key acts at member level however senior its creator, and stops working when that person leaves the workspace. Nothing writes: approving, publishing and paying stay in the app.
An MCP server
Connect an AI assistant to the same data at app.hotlineugc.com/mcp. Eight read tools, and a sign in rather than a key, so a connection carries your identity and your real role.
API keys are refused here on purpose, and the endpoint says what to do instead. The owner can switch all access off from the MCP card in Settings, whoever made the connection.
Creative Intelligence
Hotline now classifies every creative on hook, angle, format and voice, and compares those attributes against what the ads did. Hub, then Intelligence. Growth gets 300 analyses a month, Agency 1,000.
Coverage is shown above the conclusions, because "your best hook is a question" reads very differently from nine of forty videos than from thirty eight.
Briefs
Creators now submit against a brief rather than a free-form document. A brief carries angles, hooks to avoid, references, a target count and a deadline, and can go to everyone, to a segment, or to named creators.
Documents stay for the things that outlive a campaign.
The Hub tabs are reordered and renamed
Three groups now, separated by a rule: the work, the reference, the read. Content became Creatives, or My Creatives for a creator, and Pages became Documents.
Links in messages are clickable
A URL pasted into a thread is now a link. Links to Hotline open in place; anything else opens in a new tab.
Only http and https links are made clickable. Anything else stays as plain text, because a link in a message was written by the other person in the conversation.
A creator's page shows the same cards as everywhere else
Content Performance on a creator's page now uses the same creative cards as the dashboard and analytics: the video itself, its ad status, the payout cap bar and its metrics, instead of an icon and four numbers.
It also gained the Aggregated / Individual toggle. A video running as several ads can be read as one card per ad, or folded into one card with a variant count.
Every card states the video's payout terms
Cards now say what the creative actually earns on, for example "3.5% of revenue, uncapped" or "15% of revenue, up to A$600.00". Terms are frozen per video at approval, so two videos by the same creator can differ and each card reads its own.
Fixed: a video's earnings multiplied by its ad count
Aggregating a video that ran as several ads summed a per-video figure once per ad, so a video capped at A$500 could read A$2,000. Each card now reports what its own ad earned, and the aggregated card reports the video's real total.
Uploads and revisions now email the brand
A creator uploading, or answering a revision request, now emails the brand team as well as raising an in-app notification. A resubmission previously announced nothing at all.
Meta ad statuses read like English
Status pills said "Campaign_paused" and "Adset_paused". They now read "Campaign paused" and "Ad set paused".
Edit a message for two minutes
You can correct your own message for two minutes after sending it. Pressing the up arrow in an empty composer opens the last message you can still edit.
Edited messages are marked, because both sides of a conversation need to be able to see that the text changed.
Page links become attachments
Pasting a link to a hub page into a message now sends the same card the attach button produces, rather than a bare link.
Shopify App Store install flow
Hotline now uses Shopify managed installation. Installing from the App Store starts on a Shopify surface, and linking a store to a workspace no longer asks anyone to type a shop domain.
Subscriptions for merchants who install from the App Store are billed through Shopify App Pricing.
Every email rebuilt
All transactional email moved onto one shared template, with legal footer lines and a one click unsubscribe header. Email now sends from hello@hotlineugc.com, so replies reach a person.
Errors stop leaking upstream detail
Database and third party SDK errors no longer reach customer facing screens with their internals attached.
Attachments are scoped to your workspace
Hub page attachments in messages are now checked against the sender's own workspace.
Content Security Policy
A Content Security Policy now ships on every page.
Entries here cover changes you can see in the product. Internal work, refactors and infrastructure are left out.
